A hand saw holds 0.50 mm of length and a servo punch holds 0.12. Burr height then goes from 20 to 140 micrometres over 200,000 cuts, which is a blade schedule problem rather than a machine setting.
Colour difference falls from 3.2 to 0.8 as back pressure goes from 2 bar to 10, and from 3.5 to 0.8 as the shot goes from 20 to 80 percent of the barrel. Both are mixing problems before they are colour problems.
Platinum cures in 60 seconds at 120 C where peroxide needs 90, and its compression set is 12 percent at 70 C against 18. What it will not tolerate is sulphur, amines or tin, and that is the whole trade.
Cooling time goes with the square of sheet thickness: 4 seconds at 1 mm, 100 at 5. Demoulding at 100 C instead of 60 warps a 500 mm part by 2.4 mm against 0.2, and that is the half of the cycle nobody optimises.
Water penetration pressure climbs from 150 Pa at 10 percent compression to 900 at 50, but halves its rate past 30. Ageing at 70 C takes a third of the sealing force in 2000 hours, and that is what opens the gap.
Spot count goes from 3 per 1000 parts at two minutes of residence to 60 at ten. Two thirds of contamination starts before the melt, in the barrel, the additive or the regrind, not at the nozzle.
A 0.5 gram shot carries a four percent ratio error where a 10 gram shot carries half a percent. Blend quality then needs twelve static mixer elements: past that the coefficient falls from 3 to 1.2 and stops paying.
A billow holds a 0.64 wall ratio at a 0.9 draw where plain vacuum gives 0.42, and the gap widens as the draw deepens. It costs about four seconds of cycle time, which is the entire price.
A co-extruded seal strip does two jobs with two materials: the soft leg gives 12 N per 100 mm at 30 percent deflection and the rigid leg holds it in the groove. Compression set, not hardness, is what ends the seal.
Time to failure falls from 2000 hours to 12 as stress goes from 20 percent of yield to 60, so each ten points costs half a decade. PE survives 3.5 percent strain in the same solvent where PC fails at 0.4.
Undispersed filler falls from 18 percent to 2.2 over six passes, and almost all of that happens in the first three. Mooney viscosity keeps falling the whole time, from 60 to 39, which is the part nobody budgets for.
A match mould holds a 0.76 wall ratio at a 1.5 draw where vacuum gives 0.31, and it holds both surfaces. It also needs 600 kN of clamp on a one square metre part, and that is what the machine has to deliver.
