PS processes over a wide window, which is why it is often used for trial shots.<\/li>\n<li>Dry 2 h at 70 \u2013 80 \u00b0C for optical parts. For packaging grades, drying is usually unnecessary.<\/li>\n<li>PS is brittle in thin sections and solvent-sensitive. Avoid contact with adhesives containing ketones or aromatics.<\/li>\n<li>For HIPS, specify the rubber content \u2014 5 % and 12 % behave very differently in impact and in surface gloss.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"callout\">\n    <strong>Tooling, not just material.<\/strong> Every material above behaves differently in the tool \u2014 shrinkage, gate position, cooling and ejection all change. Crystal PS is common for bakery and produce packaging; HIPS for dairy containers. We supply the migration declaration for the grade used.<\/p>\n<h3>Why is PS cheaper than ABS?<\/h3>\n<p>Lower polymer cost and a wider processing window, which means shorter cycles and less scrap.
